Bring back the Superstar option #americanidol #idol
Hey Rudy, after playing for a few weeks now, I have to say that I really miss the Superstar option. I liked having more control over the singers i.e., should I superstar Michael Johns or wait one more week and chance that he'll still be around? Turns out I should not have waited.

I think I miss the Superstar option for the same reason that I don't play slots in Vegas, too much is left to chance and is not enough is based on my own decisions.

I still enjoy playing, just wondering if you've heard rubblings of others feeling the same way?

First of all, thanks for the feedback. It's the best way for me to know what everyone likes or dislikes about the site (hint for everyone).

I've received direct feedback from a couple others saying similar things but I've also heard positive feedback about the current game as well. Believe it or not but the past couple of seasons I've heard complaints about not understanding how and when to use the Superstar and it ruining their season. So the goal this season was to change up the game play but still find a way to reward for properly predicting the outcome of the contestants. The ranking method allows for this. And the addition of the bottom 3 bonus hopefully adds a little more fun to the elimination show as well. Overall I've heard positive comments from the teams at the top of the standings (go figure) but it's probably too soon to determine if this new version is a hit or not.

I will say that attempting to fully rank 24 contestants is not easy or maybe even too much work. But the approach I've taken is to simply rank the top 5 and rank the bottom 5 and then a quick best guess for whatever is in the middle. The list is getting smaller every week so it's going to be a lot easier and possibly a lot more funner and gooder (I wrote that for Marie) ;-).

...And I understand that regardless if the current game is a hit or not, it doesn't change the fact that some may still like the Superstar version instead or as well (noted).

There's no doubt it's a different game than before and it may very well be that the prior game was better. Trust me, I want to offer what everyone likes best and I'll keep adjusting the site accordingly (based on feedback). So thanks for posting.

Having won last year, I liked the format last year, but I like this year's format even better. There might be a way to combine the two different formats in a way that makes sense, but I'll leave the creativity to you.

+1 on combining the two formats. If you can't figure out the superstar method, don't complain and don't play fantasy idol! :) This year's method is a little watered down, but it's still fun!
